Ingredients
- 1/2 c. butter
- 2/3 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. warm milk
- 2 tsp. powdered ginger
- 1/4 heaping tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. mace
- 1 c. molasses
- 4 tsp. brandy or coffee
- 3 eggs
- 3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- juice or grated rind of 1 orange
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. seeded raisins, soaked overnight in brandy or water and drained
Directions

1Cream the butter and brown sugar with paddle.

2Add the warm milk.

3Mix all spices together and add to butter and sugar mixture.

4Mix in all other ingredients.

5Pour into a prepared 9 x 13-inch pan.

6Bake at 350° for about 30 or 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
