- 3/4 c. melted shortening
- 2 1/4 c. plain flour
- 1 c. boiling water
- 3/4 c. molasses
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. ginger
- 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. cloves
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Directions

1Add eggs and sugar to molasses and melted shortening.

2Add flour, sifted with

4Add hot water last. Bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes.

5Serve warm with Cool Whip or applesauce.

7Bake in 11 x 7-inch or 9 x 13-inch pan.
