- 2 eggs
- 3/4 c. dark brown sugar
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 c. boiling water
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 3/4 c. dark molasses
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. ginger
- 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
Directions

1Beat eggs, butter, sugar and molasses until very thick and smooth.

2Sift flour and other dry ingredients together.

3Add flour and water alternately to the egg mixture.

4Beat well after each addition.

5Place batter in a well buttered and floured 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.

6Bake 40 minutes in 400° oven.

7Let gingerbread cool 15 minutes before cutting into squares.
