  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • scant 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 3/4 c. shortening, melted
  • 1 c. molasses
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten

Directions

    Mix soda and buttermilk.

    Mix first seven ingredients together. Add soda, buttermilk and flour.

    Pour eggs over batter and stir. Bake at 350° approximately 30 minutes.

    Serve warm with Thank You brand raisin pie filling, cold with lemon pudding or just plain.
