- 1 12 cups plain flour
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 34 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 12 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 14 teaspoons baking powder
- 12 cup butter
- 14 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 12 cup golden syrup
- 12 cup boiling water
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350F (175C).

2Grease and flour a loaf tin.

3Sift together flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda; set aside.

4In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

5Beat in eggs and golden syrup.

6Add flour mixture and water; beat until smooth.

7Pour batter into pan.

8Bake for 30- 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean.

9Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes.

10Remove from pan and cool completely.
