- 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1/3 c. molasses
- 1/4 c. corn oil
- vegetable cooking spray
- 1 c. unsweetened applesauce
Directions

1Sift first 7 ingredients together in a medium bowl.

2Make a well in center of mixture.

3Combine water, molasses and corn oil and stir well.

4Add to flour mixture, beating at medium speed of electric mixer until smooth.

5Spoon into 8-inch square pan coated with cooking spray.

6Bake in a preheated 325° oven for 25 to 30 minutes.

7Top servings with the applesauce.
