- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1 beaten egg
- 2 c. flour
- 2 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Directions

1In large bowl, beat together sugar and shortening; add molasses.

2Mix well.

3Add beaten egg.

4Stir together all remaining ingredients.

5Mix into molasses mixture until thoroughly combined. Cover and chill at least 1 hour or overnight.

6Roll dough into 1-inch balls, then place balls into granulated

7sugar.

8Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

9Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes.
