- 1 c. sugar
- 1 unbeaten egg
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- extra sugar
Directions

1Mix shortening and 1 cup sugar; beat well.

2Add unbeaten egg; beat again.

3Add molasses; mix well.

4Mix dry ingredients and add, mixing well.

5Form into small balls and dip in white sugar.

6Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

7Bake at 350° until they crack (about 10 minutes).

8Don't overbake.
