Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 1/2 c. butter flavor shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves

    Cream the first 4 ingredients.

    Add egg; beat until fluffy. Sift together the remaining dry ingredients.

    Stir into molasses mixture.

    Chill dough at least 1 hour.

    Form into small balls; roll in sugar.

    Place, 2 inches apart, on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes.
