- 1/4 c. margarine
- 1/2 c. butter flavor shortening
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 1/4 c. flour
- 2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
Directions

1Cream the first 4 ingredients.

2Add egg; beat until fluffy. Sift together the remaining dry ingredients.

3Stir into molasses mixture.

4Chill dough at least 1 hour.

5Form into small balls; roll in sugar.

6Place, 2 inches apart, on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes.

7Makes about 5 dozen.
