- 2 14 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 34 cup shortening or 34 cup cooking oil
- 14 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 12 teaspoon ground cloves
- 14 cup sugar
Directions

1In a large mixing bowl combine about half of the flour and all of the brown sugar, shortening or oil, molasses, egg, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.

2Beat with an electric mixer on medium to high speed until thoroughly combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally.

3Beat or stir in the remaining flour.

4Shape the dough into 1 inch balls.

5Roll the balls in sugar to coat.

6Place cookies 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

7Bake in a 375 oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are set and tops are crackled.

8Cool on cookie sheet for 1 minute.

9Remove cookies and cool on a wire rack.
