- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. sorghum molasses
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- sugar
Directions

1Mix shortening, sugar, egg and molasses together.

2Sift and add to mixture the flour, soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Mix well.

3Shape into 1-inch balls.

4Roll in sugar.

5Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 375° for 12 to 15 minutes.

6Makes approximately 5 dozen.
