- 1/2 c. shortening or butter
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. molasses
- 1/2 c. hot water
- 6 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions

1Cream together shortening and sugar.

2Beat in molasses. Resift flour with other dry ingredients.

3Add to molasses mixture, alternately with water.

4Turn out onto a floured surface and knead well.

5Roll thin and cut into 2-inch circles.

6Bake on a greased cookie sheet in a 350° oven.

7Cool before removing from cookie sheets.

8Yields 10 dozen cookies.
