- 1 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs (room temperature)
- 1/2 c. light molasses
- 4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. ginger
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 tsp. cloves
- sugar
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2In large bowl, mix shortening and sugar until light.

3Beat in eggs and molasses.

4Beat in 1 cup of flour, salt, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon and cloves.

5Mix well; add the rest of the flour.

6Mix well.

7Shape dough into little 1 1/2-inch balls.

8Place on a greased cookie sheet.

9Take a glass and grease bottom, then dip into sugar.

10Press down onto the dough balls to flatten.

11Bake 15 minutes until lightly brown.
