  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon (I put a little more in)
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. ginger

Directions

    Mix as for any cookie (I generally mix well after each ingredient). Roll into balls about the size of a walnut and dip in sugar. Bake 6 to 8 minutes at 375°. Bake about 3 minutes longer if you want crisp cookies.
