Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. light molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Directions

    Mix all ingredients in large bowl.

    Roll into small balls. Dip into sugar.

    Press down on greased baking sheet, using base of a drinking glass to flatten.

    Bake at 375° for about 15 minutes. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
