- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 c. flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 tsp. ground cloves
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. light molasses
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 3/4 tsp. ginger
Directions

1Combine sugar and egg; add molasses and shortening.

2Sift together flour, salt, cloves, baking soda, cinnamon and ginger. Combine the two mixtures and mix well.

3Form in balls and dip tops in sugar.

4Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

5Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes.
