- 8 to 10 medium carrots
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Salt and freshly milled black pepper
Directions

1Peel and trim the carrots.

2Cut the carrots into thirds.

3Cut each third lengthwise into 1/2-inch sticks.

4In a pot of boiling water, cook the carrots until tender.

5Drain and reserve.

6Melt the butter in a skillet over moderate heat.

7Add the sugar, and stir until dissolved.

8Add the carrots and toss in the butter and sugar until thoroughly coated.

9Season with salt and pepper and cook until heated through.
