  • 1 recipe Basic Yeast Donuts
  • 3 cups powdered sugar, also known as confectioners sugar, sifted
  • 1/3 cup hot water
  • 1 teaspoon light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of fine sea salt

Directions

    Mix the dough, let it rise, roll it out, and cut it into donuts .

    Fry the donuts and donut holes and set aside to cool.

    Place the powdered sugar, hot water, corn syrup, vanilla, and salt in a shallow bowl and whisk to form a very smooth glaze.

    Cover with plastic wrap until ready to use (and use within 1 hour).

    When the donuts are just cool enough to handle, dip them top-side down into the glaze.

    Let the excess glaze drip off, and let the donuts dry on a wire rack set over a baking sheet.

    Do the same with the donut holes.

    Decorate with sprinkles, coarse sugar, chopped toasted nuts, dried coconut flakes, or whatever you fancy before the glaze sets.
