Glazed Lemon Tea Bread

  • 1 1/2 Cups Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/3 Cup Butter - softened
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • Finely Grated Rind from one large lemon
  • 1/3 Cup Sugar
  • Juice from one large lemon
  • Decorators Sugar
  • Finely Grated Rind from one additional lemon

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Grease a loaf pan

    Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.

    Beat butter and 1 cup sugar and lemon rind from one lemon.

    Beat in eggs, one at a time.

    Add dry ingredients alternating with milk (start and end with dry ingredients)

    Pour into loaf pan.

    Sprinkle with additional lemon rind and decorators sugar.

    Bake for 45 to 50 minutes. Until tester comes out clean.

    Immediately mix sugar and lemon juice together and pour evenly over hot bread while still in pan. After a minute pour off mixture. If left, the bread will get soggy.
