  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/3 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 c. cold water
  • 1 c. rolled oats
  • 2/3 tsp. salt
  • 5 oz. shortening

    Blend dry ingredients.

    Blend with water and shortening into a dough.

    Roll out 1/4 to 1/3-inch thick.

    Cut into squares.

    Bake on ungreased sheet at 350° for 15 minutes only.

    Makes approximately 1 dozen large cakes.
