- 1 c. cornmeal
- 1 c. flour
- 1/4 c. sugar (optional)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1 c. milk
- 1/4 c. shortening (I use oleo or butter)
Directions

1Mix dry ingredients together.

2Add shortening.

3Cut together with pastry blender or use two knives.

4Add egg and milk.

5Mix until blended well.

6If you overmix, it will not be as tender. Bake at 425° for 20 to 25 minutes.
