- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 6 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 4 tilapia fillets
- salt and pepper
Directions

1Simmer in a saucepan over medium heat the sugar, soy sauce, water, lemon zest and lemon juice.

2Add the ginger, garlic, and pepper and cook until the sauce is reduced by half.

3Allow the sauce to cool and then marinade the fillets in 1/2 of the sauce for 20 minutes in the refrigerator. Reserve the remaining sauce.

4Remove fillets from the marinade. Season with salt and pepper if desired.

5Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

6Heat skillet to medium high. Add oil to skillet and saute the fillets for about two minutes on each side until golden brown.

7Reheat the reserved sauce.

8Place fillets on baking dish or cookie sheet and finish in oven for 5-7 minutes or until done.

9Serve with reserved sauce.
