  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. washed and stemmed gooseberries
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1 c. boiling water

    Cream margarine and 1/3 cup sugar well.

    Add baking powder and flour, mix well.

    Add milk to creamed mixture.

    Spread in greased 8-inch pie pan.

    Top with berries.

    Sprinkle 1 cup sugar over berries, dot with margarine and pour boiling water over all.

    Bake 30 to 40 minutes at 375° until lightly brown.
