Ingredients
- 4 acorn squash
- 4 strips bacon
- 1 c. minced onion
- 3 ribs celery, chopped
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 1/2 c. tomato sauce or ketchup
- salt
- butter
- 1/2 c. bread crumbs
Directions

1Cut squash in halves and remove seeds and membranes.

2Arrange on buttered baking sheet.

3Fry bacon until crisp and drain on paper towels. Crumble and reserve.

4In bacon fat, saute onion, celery and green pepper until tender.

5Stir in tomato sauce. Sprinkle squash halves with salt and dot with butter.

6Put a tablespoon of vegetable mixture in each cavity and sprinkle with bread crumbs.

7Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until tender when pierced with a fork.

8Sprinkle bacon on top before serving.
