Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 lb. Quaker oats
  • 2 c. shredded coconut
  • 2 c. nuts
  • 2 c. wheat germ
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. oil
  • 2/3 c. water
  • 3 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. honey

Directions

    Mix together the first 5 ingredients; in another bowl, mix the next 4 ingredients with a whip or hand beater thoroughly.

    The honey in the mixture helps mix the oil and water together.

    Pour the oil mixture into the oats mixture. Mix with hands until all ingredients are well coated.

    Spread the mix on oiled cookie sheets and bake in oven at 200° for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

    Turn mixture thoroughly after the first 1/2 hour and again every 15 minutes until oats are light golden brown.

    Remove from oven and stir again.

    Let cool.

    Add raisins or other dried fruits.

    Store in refrigerator in covered container.
