Ingredients

  • 1 gal. dry red wine
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 to 5 cloves
  • peel of 1 orange, cut into strips
  • 1 kiwi fruit, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. dry roasted, unsalted mixed nuts (no peanuts)
  • 1 (750 ml) bottle fruity young red wine
  • 1 pt. brandy
  • sugar
  • additional nuts and raisins

Directions

    Combine 3 cups dry, red wine, cinnamon, cloves, orange peel, kiwi, raisins and nuts in medium saucepan.

    Cover and simmer over very low heat for 3 to 5 minutes.

    Do not allow mixture to boil. Remove from heat and let stand at room temperature 45 minutes to steep.
