- 2 c. hot water
- 1 tsp. butter
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 3/4 c. cooked, diced ham
- 1/2 c. quick grits
- salt to taste
- 3/4 c. grated Cheddar cheese
Directions

1In a medium saucepan, simmer first four ingredients until onion is just soft.

2Add grits and salt; bring to a boil.

3Cover and reduce heat, stirring occasionally, until grits reach desired thickness.

4Remove from heat and stir in cheese until melted. Serve hot.
