Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
  • 3 medium carrots, sliced
  • 1/3 c. pearl barley
  • 1 Tbsp. instant beef bouillon granules
  • 5 c. water (or less with tomato juice)
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, sliced
  • salt and pepper

    Brown meat

    drain off

    fat.

    Add water, undrained tomatoes, onions, carrots, celery, barley, beef granules, salt and pepper.

    to a boil and simmer, covered, for 1 hour or when vegetables

    are tender.

    (Cabbage and/or kidney beans may also be added.)
