- 4 c. self-rising flour (White Lily)
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Mix first five ingredients. Work in shortening until mealy. Mix together yeast and warm water.

2Dissolve well and add to 1 1/2 cups buttermilk.

3Add to flour mixture.

4Mix well, then knead lightly.

5Refrigerate overnight.

6Roll out about 1/2 inch thick, butter and overlap dough; cut into your favorite size and bake at 450° for 8 to 12 minutes.

7Makes about 20 average biscuits.
