- 1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder (level)
- 1 tsp. soda (level)
- 1 tsp. sugar (level)
- 3 1/2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Sift first four ingredients together; cut in shortening and slowly add buttermilk.

2(If dough is too soft, add little more flour before kneading.)

3Pat or roll out to 3/4-inch thick.

4Bake at 450° for 10 minutes or until brown.

5Makes 15 medium size biscuits.

6(Place pan of biscuits in middle of oven to bake a more uniform biscuit.)

7Brush tops with butter after removing from oven.
