Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 can or 2 1/2 cups cooked beets
  • 1 Tbsp butter or salad oil
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

    Mix sugar and cornstarch.

    Add water and vinegar.

    Boil 5 minutes. Drain beets and add to sugar mixture.

    Cook slowly, stirring occasionally until beets are heated.

    Add butter.

    Salt and pepper, if desired.
