- 1 (1 lb.) can sliced beets or 1 quart frozen beets
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1/4 c. beet liquid from can
- 1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/4 c. vinegar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- a few grains pepper
- 1/8 tsp. cloves
Directions

1Drain beets; save 1/4 cup of the liquid.

2Melt butter or margarine.

3Blend in flour.

4Add 1/4 cup beet liquid.

5Cook stirring constantly, until thickened.

6Add remaining ingredients and stir until sugar dissolves.

7Add drained beets.
-
8Heat to serving temperature.

9Makes 6 servings.
