Hearty Stuffed Shells

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 c. Italian breadcrumbs
  • about 28 cooked, drained, jumbo shells
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 32 oz. jar spaghetti sauce
  • 8 oz. Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 medium, chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 tsp. oregano
  • 1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp. minced garlic

    Preheat oven to 375°.

    In a large skillet, thoroughly brown beef, onion and garlic; drain fat.

    In a large bowl, combine meat, breadcrumbs, egg, 1 cup spaghetti sauce, Parmesan cheese and oregano.

    Season with salt and pepper.

    Evenly spread 1 cup of sauce in baking dish.

    Fill each shell with 1 heaping tablespoon meat mixture.

    Arrange over sauce and top with remaining sauce. Bake, covered, 30 minutes.

    Uncover; sprinkle with Mozzarella cheese and bake 5 minutes or until cheese melts.
