Ingredients
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Combine dry ingredients in bowl.

3Cut in shortening until crumbly.

4Add buttermilk and yeast. Mix well.

5Refrigerate if desired.

6Knead lightly on floured surface.

7Roll dough to 1 inch thickness.

8Cut with biscuit cutter.

9Place in greased 7 X 7 inch pan.

10Let rise slightly. Bake at 400 degrees until brown, about 12 - 15 minutes.

11Yield 1 dozen.
