Herbed Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 c. margarine or butter
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1/4 c. chopped mixed fresh herbs, such as thyme, oregano, tarragon and/or parsley, or 2 Tbsp. dried seasonings
Directions

1Heat oven to 450°.

2In medium size bowl stir in flour, baking powder and baking soda to mix well; using pastry blender or two knives, cut in margarine until coarse crumbs form.

3Stir buttermilk and chopped herbs into flour mixture only until just blended.

4Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface; knead four or five times until mixture holds together.

5Roll out dough to 1/2-inch thickness, using 2-inch round cutter, cut out biscuits.

6Re-roll and cut out scraps.

7Place biscuits on ungreased large cookie sheet, bake 12 to 15 minutes until golden.

8Serve warm.

9Makes about 1 1/2 dozen.
