Ingredients

  • 3 large chicken breasts, halved
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 can cream of celery soup
  • 3/4 c. white wine or water or liquid from 1 can water chestnuts
  • 1 (8 oz.) can water chestnuts, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped green pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. minced dried onion or fresh

Directions

    Season chicken with salt and pepper and brown in a heavy skillet with butter.

    Arrange in pan approximately 11 x 7 x 1 1/2-inches.

    Blend soup with drippings in skillet.

    Stir wine (or other liquid) in slowly.

    Add remaining ingredients and heat to boiling.

    Pour over chicken.

    Cover with foil; bake at 350° for 20 minutes.

    Remove foil and bake another 30 minutes.
