Ingredients
- 4 ounces swiss cheese shredded, divided (1 cup total)
- 3/4 cups lentils, green (urad dal), or red, washed and sorted
- 3/4 cups onions chopped
- 1/2 cup brown rice uncooked
- 3 1/2 cups chicken broth diluted
- 1/4 cup red wine burgundy
- 1/2 teaspoon basil dried, crushed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon oregano dried
- 1/4 teaspoon thyme dried
- 18 teaspoon garlic powder
- 18 teaspoon black pepper
Directions

1Combine 1/2 cup cheese and remaining ingredients in a large bowl; stir well.

2Pour mixture into an ungreased 2-quart casserole.

3Cover and bake at 350F (180C).

4for 2 hours, or until lentils are tender, stirring occasionally.

5Uncover and sprinkle with remaining cheese.

6Bake an additional 5 minutes or until cheese melts.

7Yield: 6 to 8 servings.
