- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1 c. raisins, chopped
- 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1/4 c. milk
Directions

1Cream shortening.

2Add sugar gradually and beat until light. Add egg; blend well.

3Add vanilla, nuts and raisins and mix.

4Sift flour, baking powder, salt and spices together and add alternately with milk to first mixture.

5Mix well.

6Chill dough; drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.

7Bake in 375° oven for 15 minutes.

8Makes 4 1/2 dozen.
