Holiday Egg Nog

Ingredients

  • 12 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 qt. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. vanilla extract
  • ground nutmeg
  • 2 c. heavy or whipping cream

Directions

    Beat eggs, sugar and salt until blended.

    Gradually stir in 1 quart of milk and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.

    Do not boil.

    Pour into a large bowl and stir in vanilla, 1 teaspoon nutmeg and remaining milk.

    Will be like a custard.

    Refrigerate until well chilled, approximately 3 hours.

    To serve, beat cream until soft peaks form.

    Fold whipped cream into custard mixture.
  9. 9
    Sprinkle with nutmeg.
