- 2/3 c. butter Crisco
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 3/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 48 maraschino cherries, drained on paper towel
- 1 lb. chocolate melts (for coating cookies)
Directions

1Cream Crisco, sugar, egg, milk and vanilla.

2Combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda.

3Place dough in very thin layer around drained cherries.

4Place 2 tablespoons apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

5Bake at 350° for 10 minutes.

6Cool on cookie sheet one minute.

7Dip cookies in melted chocolate.

8Place on wax paper to cool.

9Makes approximately 4 dozen cookies.
