- 1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. soft shortening
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. white sugar
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. evaporated milk
- 1 c. rolled oats
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1 c. chopped dates
- 1/4 c. chopped red candied cherries
Directions

1Place first 8 ingredients in bowl of electric mixer.

2Beat hard for 2 minutes.

3Stir in oats, nuts, dates and fruit. Spread in well-greased 13 x 9-inch pan.

4Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.

5Frost and decorate if desired.
