Ingredients

  • 1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. soft shortening
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. white sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 c. rolled oats
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 c. chopped dates
  • 1/4 c. chopped red candied cherries

Directions

    Place first 8 ingredients in bowl of electric mixer.

    Beat hard for 2 minutes.

    Stir in oats, nuts, dates and fruit. Spread in well-greased 13 x 9-inch pan.

    Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.

    Frost and decorate if desired.
