Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. honey or sugar
  • 3 c. warm water
  • 3 pkg. yeast
  • 5 tsp. salt
  • 9 to 10 c. flour
  • 5 Tbsp. oil

Directions

    Mix first 4 ingredients until yeast is dissolved.

    Add 5 cups of the flour.

    Beat with dough hook or spoon until batter is shiny and smooth.

    Add remaining flour and blend well.

    Pour the oil over the dough and knead until it all is absorbed (but not longer than 3 minutes).

    Cover the bowl with waxed paper and a towel. Set in oven.

    Turn oven to 150° and turn off in 5 minutes.

    Leave oven door shut and let rise for 45 minutes, until double in bulk. Punch down.

    Shape into 2 large or 3 medium loaves and place in buttered loaf pans.

    Return to warm oven.

    Let rise 30 minutes, until double.

    Bake at 375° for 35 minutes.

    Remove from pans and cool, covered.
