Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 2 1/4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 7/8 cups bread flour
  • 3 1/4 tablespoons sugar
  • salt
  • 7 1/8 tablespoons chocolate chips
  • 1 egg yolk

Directions

  1. 1
In a stand mixing bowl, dissolve the fresh yeast in the warm milk. Add the oil, egg yolk, vanilla, flour, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Combine the ingredients using the hook attachment of the mixer.
  2. 2
Lightly oil a bowl and place the dough inside. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and allow it to rest for 2 hours.
  3. 3
Place the chocolate chips in the freezer for 30 minutes.
  4. 4
Once the dough is double its size, take the chocolate chips out of the freezer and carefully mix with the dough, kneading a bit to make sure they are properly mixed in.
  5. 5
Form ball-shaped pieces of 80 to 90 grams each.
  6. 6
Place the pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, letting the dough rest once again for 2 hours to double its size.
  7. 7
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  8. 8
Coat the dough with the egg yolk and place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for about 20 minutes.
