- pan drippings (chicken, beef or pork)
- self-rising flour
- hot water
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste
Directions

1After cooking your meat, pour off grease until just bottom of pan is covered.

2Add salt and pepper.

3Stir in 2 to 3 heaping tablespoonfuls of flour.

4Cook, stirring constantly, until nice brown roux (just before scorching).

5Have hot water in bowl ready. Pour about half of water into roux.

6Mixture will be thin.

7Cook over medium heat, constantly stirring, until desired consistency is reached.

8Tastes great with homemade biscuits and scrambled eggs.
