- 5 oz. lye
- 6 qt. cold water
- 5 qt. shelled corn
- 5 Tbsp. salt
Directions

1Dissolve the lye in the cold water.

2Stir in the shelled corn and let stand for 15 hours.

3Drain off the lye water and put the corn in a sack.

4Rub and wash it in the sack through running water. After the hulls are off the corn, take it out of the sack and cook for 3 or 4 hours or until tender.

5Change the water 2 or 3 times while it is cooking.
