Hot Mulled Cider

Ingredients

  • 2 qt. cider (1/2 gal.)
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • dash of nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. whole allspice
  • 1 tsp. whole cloves
  • orange slice
  • 3-inch cinnamon sticks

    Combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt and cider in large, deep pot.

    Tie spices in a piece of cheesecloth and add to cider mixture.

    Bring slowly to a boil.

    Cover and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes.

    Remove spices.

    Serve hot in mugs or cups with orange slice floats and cinnamon-stick mullers (stirrers).
