- 3/4 c. warm water
- 1/2 envelope yeast
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- salt (optional)
Directions

1Preheat oven to 425°.

2Mix warm water, yeast and sugar.

3Set aside for 5 minutes.

4Mix salt and flour in a large bowl.

5Add yeast mixture.

6Work the dough into shapes on a flour-covered counter or pastry cloth.

7Put on an ungreased cookie sheet.

8Beat egg and brush on pretzels.

9Sprinkle on salt, if desired.

10Bake 10 to 12 minutes.

11Best when eaten warm.

12Makes 8 to 10 large pretzels.
