- 2 c. warm water
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. hot water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 6 c. flour
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water, add 2 tablespoons of the sugar. Combine shortening, salt and remaining sugar.

2Add water not used to dissolve yeast.

3Add flour and beat until smooth.

4Turn dough out onto lightly floured board and knead until dough is spongy and does not stick to hands.

5Put in greased bowl and let rise until doubled in size.

6Work down and work into buns and place them in greased pan.

7Let rise until doubled in size.

8Bake at 375° for 20 minutes.

9Makes 24 large buns.
