Ingredients
- 2 cakes or pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 c. milk, scalded
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 tsp. salt
- flour to handle
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water with 1 tablespoon sugar. Scald milk and let cool.

2Add sugar, shortening, salt and flour to handle.

3Knead until not sticky.

4Let rise until light.

5Knead down; let rise again.

6Make into buns and let rise.

7Bake plain rolls at 400° for 10 to 15 minutes.

8This is a good basic dough even for sweet rolls.

9If used for sweet rolls, follow the recipe except when used with a sugar-butter coating try a 350° to 375° oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until bottoms are lightly browned in glass pan.

10(This can be used very well with Rapidmix method of Fleischmann's.)
