Ingredients
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1 c. warm water
- 1 egg
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 to 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large mixing bowl.

2Let stand five minutes.

3Add sugar, shortening, egg, salt and half of the flour; beat at low speed until smooth.

4Stir in remaining flour to make a soft dough.

5(I find it is best to reserve part of the flour to knead the bread with.) Knead 8 or 10 times.

6Place in well-greased bowl.

7Cover and let rise until doubled.

8Punch dough down on lightly floured surface and knead 4 or 5 times.

9Grease hands well and shape in rolls.

10Let rise again.

11Bake at 400° until golden.
